Juxtaposition.

wordpress XD I was really in the verge of wondering why some bloggers chose to use different blogging tools. I came up with 4 famous blog tools which (I think) everyone uses in the blogsphere. :p First on the list obviously is WordPress. I find it easy to use but mind you making themes and upgrading isn’t that easy specially when you’re manually upgrading it. Coding and stuffs is not really my favorite hobby but I would love to try it some time. You’ll also encounter lots of PHP blah blah in coding one. WordPress people are very diligent on upgrading their system, FYI, they’re now working with version 2.8 even if 2.7′s the latest and newly released version. Backing up and restoring databases is a bit easy, too, but of course on the first time I did it, it’s the other way around. It features a loooooot of plugins for the blog’s improvement, too. I chose this blog tool because it’s the only one available on my cPanel, actually there are some but I don’t know how to use them. :o

cutenews Next one’s CuteNews. I don’t know much about this but according to their website, bloggers don’t need to have mySQL for their storage of files. I think their admin’s user interface is very friendly. :p

fan update Third on the list is FanUpdate. It has basic pod casting support blah blah which I can’t understand that is related to RSS feed. And the most shocking is all the coding should validate XHTML 1.0 strict. Though I didn’t know about the XHTML stuff, I think it’s hard… or not! XD C’mon tell me what’s XHTML 1.0 strict! :/

BloggerAnd the last but not the least, Blogger! aka blah.blogspot.com. I once had a blog here but I deleted it. Here, you can use a domain to point to their IP or just be contented with the subdomain stuff which I never liked making me delete my blog there. There are wide collections of themes that you can use here! ;) This theme actually is for blogger but I converted it to WP remember? No need to install anything in FTP clients like the first 3 blog tools.

    Haha, you’re right, it’s not supposed to be like that, but still .. they are scary! especially when you’re lying down watching their nostrils, if you know what i mean. see, that’s very creepy, haha.

    What blog tool are you using right now? Why?
    - Fanupdate on my english site and cutenews for my danish site.
    Fanupdate is great! I haven’t got any spam comments so far. It’s nice.
    Cutenews is great too, but very spam-welcoming, if you can describe it like that, haha. You just need to place a Captcha-thing around somewhere and it will be perfect!
    Are you having a hard time in using your blogging tool?
    - Uh, not really. But sometimes it’s a bit complicated. Probably because i’m not very good at the coding thing and so on :/

    I already use cutenews andfanupdate. I’ve made a blogspot-account too.. so .. i would like to try wordpress someday :D

  5. WordPress is the best talaga when it comes in blogging. I also tried cutenews before, yun yung unang blogging tool na ginamit ko ever.

  6. I’ve only used WordPress and Cutenews out of these four. When I started in the blogging scene, like 10 years ago, you had Greymatter – which was amazing. I think WP is good but I love making my own layouts and templates from scratch therefore I prefer Cutenews :)

    I guess that answers all your questions :P

    And yeah my bf is a rockstar :P Funny way to say it. I just usually say “he’s in a band” but yeah, they make music and they’re pretty popular so I guess you could say that :P

    I’ve used three of those. CuteNews was definitely my least favorite, with WordPress being my favorite. FanUpdate is great and easy to work with, but I like the challenge that WordPress offers. CuteNews just sucks, in my opinion. There’s way too much spam and you can’t do much with it. It’s really great for beginners, though, I guess.
    I’ve never used Blogger.

    What blog tool are you using right now? Why? I am using wordpress! I used to use cutenews but then I wanted something better, moved to fan-update and then that kept deleting my blogs so wordpress seemed like the best option. :)
    Are you having a hard time in using your blogging tool? Not now.

  10. I guess people use different blogging programs because some don’t work for others…it’d be pretty boring if everyone used the same thing XD

    I use cutenews, but I hate it (so unstable) but I’ll stick with it until I get wordpress on my new site =P

    I’ve used all of them (and some more) except FanUpdate, but my favorite will always be WordPress. It’s actually very easy to update now because you can automatically do it through you admin panel.
    As for cutenews, as easy and convenient as it is, it’s a VERY insecure script that is easy to hack. I’d say to avoid it at all cost-_-

Its hackable but then again its simpler and easier to use than WordPress.&& I haven’t upgraded on WP I just started using it for 2 months so hopefully it will be okay when I upgrade to 2.8. Also it took me forever to find out how to make my own theme xD That annoyed me alot as well as PHP >.< I’m not very good with codingxD

  13. I use Cutenews. All the stuff you said about it was pretty accurate. I love it because you can customize it like crazy.. a lot of people can’t tell that I use it.

    I’m surprised at how popular it has gotten. I used to be the odd-one-out for using it. Times have changed!

  14. WordPress is love, Cutenews sucks, Fanupdate..it’s alright, and I’ve never used blogger, but I don’t really like it from what I’ve seen, just IMO.

  15. you might want to check your site in safari. its very very weird looking lol. yep, i agree about wp. it wasnt much fun trying to figure out how to code the themes.very hard and they offered little help.

  18. i have used those three except for fanupdate. some people said its a blogging tool to avoid getting hacked unlike cutenews. i was with blogger on myfirst blog. i did love it unlike for wordpress. i thought wordpress was blah. but then someone taught me how to use this using subdomains and etc. and after some time, i got my first domain but it was boring, at first using wordpress is really a pain in my ass. but thanks to my online friends for helping me out. :)

    I’m using WordPress, and I don’t want to try anything else! :D I love WordPress! It’s easy to navigate things without so much hassle. Hmm. I don’t really know about the others, kasi nga I haven’t tried them yet. Pero dahil nga so many bloggers use WP, ibig sabihin it’s better than the others nga. :)

    OT: Should I remove your DressyDoll from my links na and replace it with this one? :D

    - WordPress. :) I know the four are very popular but WP is the easiest and very customizable (but I guess it depends on your HTML/CSS/PHP knowledge). I wanted to try CuteNews but I had a hard time installing it, so I gave up. LOL.

    - Nope, but WP keeps on having a new update. It’s irritating. But thank you plugins! :)

    XHTML is like HTML, only stricter. You have to make sure that all of your codes has a corresponding closing code.

    Remove the single quotations. :)

    I know all of those but THE BEST is WORDPRESS!!!
    Cutenews – prone to hacking blah blah because it is not stable as it is (I mean walang mysql :( )
    Fanupdate – is the blogging tool I’m gonna use if wordpress doesn’t exist because its safer there than cutenews except for the mising posts part :P
    Blogger – a lot of people use it but I don’t know why… I actually dislike blogger :P

    Lol, I’m using FanUpdate, merely because Cutenews had too many glitches and WordPress I was too lazy to install. I actually like coding my layouts by hand instead of having to limit myself to WordPress Themes and stuff, I hate it.

    FanUpdate is just too easy, although I do wish it had a few more features. However, I’m pretty sure I can mess around with the PHP coding to add things, if I weer actually that good at it. XD

  25. It’s basically all Cutenews for me xD I’ve heard too many things about how WordPress is so hard to use, and how it takes up so much time.

    Who knows, though? I might just switch to WordPress when I have the time and patience xD

    Fan Update is pretty cool too, from what I’ve heard.

    I like WordPress the best for blogging, though I like FanUpdate if I want a simple commenting system for my other sites. It’s really easy to set up and customize. I avoid Cutenews because it seems insecure and gets spammed a lot.

    2. Nope. I uh… altered my WP so that’d be easier to customize, lol.
    3. I already use WP and FanUpdate. I don’t really want to use CuteNews or Blogger ever.

    when i’m a total newbie, i’m stuck at blogger, but then i find it very limited so i chose wp w/c i enjoy naman. Coding and designing is sort of my passion keia di naman aq ganun nahirapan.. besides, comp sci me.. it has something to do with my course.. hehe!

    I’m familiar with all four but i’ve only used two of them which are WP and Blogger.

  35. i think those are the most popular blog tools too. I use wordpress right now but I don’t know what I’m doing with it. I just add new blogs and put up new layouts the way i always do. I don’t know anything about themes and such. lol Nice job on your blog though!

  38. I’ve used them all! In the same order you listed them. I liked WordPress but, for some odd reason since my site transfered I cannot get it to install. Fanupdate wouldn’t show my previous blogs, Cutenews is full of spammers, so IDK. =/ I’ll probably contact my host so I can use WordPress. :]

    well yeah, in fact it burnt down 660 houses and killed at least 131 people (so far). The death toll is expected to rise to 200. It’s pretty crazy stuff, we were so damn close to a mass fire.

    I used to use CuteNews and FanUpdate. But when I tried WordPress I fell in love. Hahaha! :-))) Right now, I think it’s the best blogging tool if you’re kind of advance. :-)

    Yeah, I think those are the main ones. They’re all different in different areas, there’s that will suit anyone.

  50. I guess you’ve got the main ones there! I wouldn’t say blogger is one of the main ones, but it’s still popular. Cutenews, it is the most dumbest blogging tool! It doesn’t prevent spam. :P
