My Teaching Belief

Teaching is not a profession. It is a passion.

It’s been a long time since I had a reflection like this. And it’s been a long time, too, how much I love to be one of people who stand in front of the class with matching an eye glass and a stick that will make the kids behave. Scratch the eye glass and the stick. Since then I dreamt of being a teacher. I can still vividly remember how I taught my younger friends and cousins about how to write in cursive, multiply numbers and read stories. The joy in their eyes whenever they knew the answer, the fire burning within their souls to learn more- those were the times I would never ever forget in my whole life.

Random people and few relatives had asked me why I would take Education as my course in college. Even when I got into college, the same question occurred. And guess what? I answered them with the quote above. Seriously, I don’t mind if the salary’s not that high. After all, I would be choosing a rich-enough guy who will take care all of my luxurious wants. Besides those wants is my inner passion, my love for teaching. I know it is hard- takes a lot of effort, patience and all- but I know I can conquer all that because of this fire in teaching burning within my being.

I believe that you can only teach effectively if it’s coming from your heart. Teaching isn’t just a profession that requires a lesson plan, a class record, and a pen. It is definitely more than that. It’s all about how you will care for your students, how you will encourage them to study hard, how you will make them feel that studying is a nice thing to do, and how you will imbibe in their minds that education is the only thing that can never ever be stolen from anybody else so they need to persevere.

For the clueless, I am taking Education and now in my 3rd year. :)

  1. I never knew this April!! hehe don’t call me ate pala sis, haha it really does make me feel look old!!

I really commend you for taking teaching! You know, i only know so few people (VERY FEW) who want to go into teaching! I wish I could but my patience meter isn’t very high and I think I would just lose to my temper all the time so better give the kids a break. Plus am kinda scared of the new generation O_O.

I really can’t wait when I see you in action! It’ll be soo cool really :p I wish you all the luck and I believe that you can do it! Whoot! \m/

I think that’s a fantastic attitude to take about teaching. So many of the teachers who taught me as I was growing up seemed so unenthusiastic about their jobs, it was really disheartening. I’m sure all students would be better off if more teachers had your attitude! And as for the pay, I have to agree with you on that. People have been trying to talk me out of studying science for years because scientists generally don’t earn much money, but I’d rather get paid a little for a job I enjoy and am passionate about than get a good salary for doing something that makes me miserable. :)

  2. Hahah, yeah the plugin costume is pretty awesome. I’m leaning towards the mac and cheese but if that doesn’t work out then the condom it is. xD

Wow, I’ve never heard anyone talk about teaching like this LOL. You definitely have a passion for it, and it’s great that you enjoy what you do.

You’re absolutely right about teaching coming from the heart. It’s very easy to tell, especially to a student when their teacher isn’t teaching from the heart. Unfortunately, I get that impression from my chem teacher, she makes me so angry lol.

  3. i wonder why people go into teaching when they dont even like kids, or are bad with kids. they probably only go into it because they want a job out of it or whatever. its never about the love for teaching anymore and thats just SAD. yeah , being a teacher may not be a big salary but you really need to love it to go to school everyday and teacher. plus, you get summer vacation, pa days, blahablahblah haha!
my cousins really smart and gets like a 90 average so i think everyone expects her to do something awesome but she also went into a education course. im sure she’ll be a good teacher.
and im sure you will too (:

  4. Yeah but even so, most actors in those films have really posh accents so everyone assumes all English people do. If you can’t understand an accent doesn’t mean you should hate it. Yeah, ‘British accent’ doesn’t even exist, so I’m not sure why people refer it to that. :S There’s tons more accents in England though!

Thanks for answering the questions. :)

I remember wanting to become a teacher when I was about 14, but I didn’t get the grades to be able to.

I don’t understand how any of the teachers would be in it for the money; I mean it’s not a good pay. Most of them are in it for the passion.

If you want to be something so bad you should go for it; don’t worry about what others day or what the pay is. As long as you enjoy what you do, that’s all that matters.

Good luck with your journey to becoming a teacher. :D

  5. Thank you!

  6. I don’t think many teachers are in it for the money. They seem to love their students and are very passionate about it – they don’t care about the money. It usually isn’t a lot of money but to be a teacher is inspirational.

Earning a lot of money is nice but it’s much more important to enjoy your job, I think. A lot of people are stuck in jobs they hate! :(

Yeah, you’re right. I would rather have a few very good friends than a hundred who I’m not even close to. :)

  7. After reading your blog post a thought came into my mind : “Woooh,I can see the future now, Ate april will be a very caring and open-minded teacher” . That’s nice ate that you love your course. A big goodluck, one year to go. Yiih!~

  8. When I was a little kid, I used to dream of becoming a teacher. Until now, it’s still one of my dreams. I didnt take Education as a course because I thought being a teacher isnt practical. And I think I am wrong. Anyway, teaching isnt really my big passion but I do find teaching fascinating. :D I would rather go to advertising and design :)

Anyway, I’m happy that you found you’re calling.. and that’s teaching. I think you’ll be a great teacher!

hey you know what, i always believed that teaching is the best profession the world has to offer. siguro kaya im able to say this eh dahil my mom is a teacher and i’m also overwhelmed kung pano nya ihandle ang lahat regarding the profession. its hard pero it has been her bread and butter eversince. xD

ako rin, i have dreams of becoming one pero nalihis ako ng landas. haha. :)) pero i want to pursue it in the near future pa rin.

    goodluck to you! :)

  9. I know many people who want to be teachers, and though I think you can be a good teacher without passion, by simply being organized and such. I do believe that to be a great teacher you have to be passionate and dedicated. :D

    Good luck.

I think that’s wonderful that you feel that way about teaching =) It’s that kind of passion that makes a great teacher. I feel like too many people let salary get in the way of doing what they really want. More people should have your attitude about their career! Good luck with it!
